Festival Opera presents nationally recognized soprano Shana Blake Hill in recital on Thursday, Mary 21 at the Lesher Center. Spanning three centuries of song, the program includes music by George Frideric Handel, Gabriel Fauré, Antonin Dvorak, Ricky Ian Gordon, Carlisle Floyd and others, accompanied by pianist Victoria Kirsch.
Later this season, Ms. Hill will appear in the title role of Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah. This recital gives our patrons a preview of the opera star’s spellbinding artistry prior to our mainstage production.
An alumna of Los Angeles Opera’s Resident Artist Program, Ms. Hill made her Festival Opera debut in 2018 as Tosca in Love, Lust & Laughter. She has performed with LA Opera, Dayton Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Pacific, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Seattle Symphony and many others.
In keeping with Festival Opera’s commitment to youth music education, some exceptional vocal students from the Contra Costa School for the Performing Arts will be featured at the opening of this performance.
